Illustrations for "The Master and Margarita"

This Bulgakov classic continues to inspire generations. With its dark symbolism and gloomy atmosphere, it was a perfect challenge for an illustrative project.

I made several iterations of illustrations for this, from highly detailed ones to digital drawings. However, what I ended up using were the original ink/charcoal sketches. No matter the amount of details in all the other iterations, nothing fit better than the rawness of the original sketches.
